Macrame on the wall. Do you like macrame or scraping and would you like to create one yourself? You can find inspiration and a simple “how to” guide in the following video tutorial.

Macrame

Macramé, or scraping, is a technique in which we tie knots from cords by hand and thus create decorations without the use of other tools. With this technique, we can create beautiful and again very fashionable home decorations as well as clothing accessories, jewelry, handbags… Scrubbing is very variable and there are no limits to imagination when creating. Macrame decorations are perfect for interiors furnished in a fashionable style boho style.

Instructions

Do you like macrame decorations but can't tie knots? We have prepared for you a simple tutorial for a macrame wall hanging for beginners. The Tree of Life is tied to a bamboo ring. Unlike traditional rubbing or macrame, we can create this tree of life very simply and quickly.

Material

  • macrame cords 1.5 mm
  • scissors
  • wooden beads
  • bamboo circle 25 cm
  • adhesive tape
  • clip
  • (hook)

The given dimensions are only indicative for an approximate idea of the amount of material. Everyone can choose the size according to their wishes.

Ship knot

We tie nine cords to the circle. We will use a basic ship knot for this. We fold the cord with a length of approx. 220 cm in half. We lead the resulting eye behind the circle in the direction from bottom to top. We turn the eye forward around the circle. We thread both ends through the eye on the front side towards each other from the back and tighten the knot on the circle. We tie all nine ties in the same way, one cord at a time. We create spaces between them and thread wooden beads.

Binding

We fix the circle on the mat with adhesive tape and start shaping the tree itself. You can see the exact procedure in the attached video guide. We work from one side. We take the entire extreme (first) tie in our hands, add the outer cord from the following (second) tie to it, twist them and secure them with a clamp. In this way, we intertwine individual ties unevenly and thus create imaginary branches of a tree. We always twist the connected cords and secure them with a clamp. We continue like this until we have all the ties wrapped. We keep turning them in the same direction. We move the beads irregularly. Finally, we connect all the ties and twist them in the same direction into one, thus creating a trunk. We secure it with one simple knot. We tie the knot with one knot, which we secure in the lower part of the circle. It is the first root of the tree. Wrap the trunk around with the remaining cords. In the lower part, we gradually tie all the remaining ties one by one. Let the ends hang freely. We can leave them irregular or trim them according to our taste.
